More X-rated Films Are Locally Produced for Export
By Billy R. Balbastro

At the rate some enterprising local businessmen are filing and exporting X-rated Betamax films, the Philippines will soon be the bold film capital of Southeast Asia. For several months now, local production of these bold films with explicit sex scenes has been going on quietly, some of our directors and performers have branched out to this kind of films which is proving to be more lucrative. These tapes are being produced here and distributed in Hong Kong, Taiwan and European countries. Some are also being sold or rented here. Local Actor Gil Guerrero is fast becoming the Betamax King. His “Wet Dreams”, directed by Azul (a pseudonym of a well-known director), is now a current bestseller. Gil has starlets Maroo Deyro and Roxanne Roxas as playmates in the movie. A trilogy of short films featuring Guerrero is also being sold or rented as “Filipino Porno.”. These can be bought or rented in most shops at Ali Mall in Cubao and Virra Mall at Greenhills.

Another local director did The Yearning with a starlet named Roda Regal. This one is also popular in Betamax selling/renting shops. Recently, foreign businessmen discovered the good local atmosphere and the receptive movie people for this kind of filming. A German came to town and sought the help of some photographers to audition interested performers for parts. A reliable source says that location site will either be Puerto Galera or Pagsanjan. What does our Board of Review (whose jurisdiction includes tapes) say to this?
